Designers raise $5k for local businesses [Infographic]

As the pandemic was spreading around the world, and life was put on pause, a group of DC based designers gathered virtually and decided we could harness the power of creativity to be of service. We volunteered our talents to create limited-edition art, now available for sale on t-shirts through Communi-T. In our first month of operation, Communi-T has distributed over $5,000 to our local small business partners.

Going on the third week of this effort we are seeing the impacts of everyones support for these great local businesses. We now have, or are adding the final touches too, over 22 different limited-edition shirt designs. As we add more businesses we are growing our design team as well. We are 12 amazing designers strong and growing. All of that adds up to over 210 shirts sold and over $3,000 dollars that have gone directly to these local businesses to support their employees and keep the doors open. Wow, we were thrilled that the Washington City Paper wanted to write an article highlighting Community-T's efforts to harness the power of creativity to help local small businesses. Take a minute and read this great article about how our efforts and see how you can join in to make a difference. Getting the word out provided an amazing boost for the businesses involved. Within the 24 hours of this article being published we sold over 65 shirts providing an additional $1,000 to the companies and their employees.

Amazing support from all sides

Two weeks into this effort and I continue to be amazed by the talent of the designers, the resilience of the businesses and your generosity.  We have added more businesses and more designers. Our goal is to have enough capacity to help all who need it. Therefore, we are really excited to add more designers to make that happen. Our first full week of support!

During this last week we have recruited more designers and business to get involved with Communi-T. We launched shirts for FireFly Farms, Mikko Nordic Fine Foods, The Outpost American Tavern, Purple Patch and Roscoe’s Pizzeria. FireFly Farms and Mikko’s have started to promote their shirts via social media and other communication avenues. We are seeing that promotions sell shirts and raises funds, an obvious point. So any and all promotions are encouraged and appreciated. Today (Monday, April 13) we have distributed all proceeds collected from the preceding weeks shirt sales.
